The Cross-Cultural Center sees constant activity from many student, staff and academic interests on campus. Its rooms and facilities serve a variety programs and events. The CCC sponsors, cosponsors, or hosts a considerable number of programming events each year, both within the Center itself and elsewhere on campus. The images and accompanying descriptions below give some impression of the facilities and activities at the CCC.

The Structure and Facilities of the Cross-Cultural Center

The Cross-Cultural Center, Main Entrance.

The main (south) entrance faces Artist Lane and was recently rebuilt with a new entrance ramp, awning, and wood deck and stairs. The landscaping includes boulders taken from rock formations unique to San Diego.

Reception Area, Bookshelves

The Main Entrance opens into the Reception area. There are several bookshelves that hold many books of the CCC resource library. The Asian hand-crafted hats on the top shelves are a few items from the CCC collection of cultural objects from around the world.

Lobby, Facing North Toward Gallery

The Lobby serves as a lounge and gathering place for all visiting the center. Its couches, upholstered chairs and other furnishings make it a comfortable place to socialize, relax or study. At the far (north) end of the room is the entrance to the Gallery, and to the right (east) is the entrance to the Lecture Hall.

Lobby, Resource Shelf and Workstation

On the south wall of the Lobby are resource shelves, where various publications and printed materials from many campus organizations, departments, and local and national sources, are made available. A brochure kiosk, bulletin boards and other resource displays can be found in Lobby. The workstation at right is available for casual Internet and Web access for visitors.

Lobby, Students and Display Case

People are always gathering in the CCC. This snapshot shows a sample the many diverse students of different ethnicities, cultures and religions who meet and interact in the CCC. Here, students are studying in the Lobby near a display for Native American History Month and an altar for Día de los Muertos.
