Joseph Allen Ruanto Ramirez graduated from UCSD
with a degree in Ethnic Studies. He was highly involved on campus with the
Student Initiated Outreach & Recruitment Commission (now the Student
Initiated Access Program & Services, part of the Student Promoted Access
Center for Education & Services) which focused on outreaching to difference
communities and encouraging high school youths to pursue higher education.
Joseph was involved in the different Student Affirmative Action Committee (SAAC) organizations and other cultural organizations. He was the Campus Community Centers’ Chancellor Undergraduate Diversity Leadership Institute intern and later on became the Cross-Cultural Center’s Administrative & Facility Intern where he started the university’s very first Asian & Pacific-Islander American Heritage Celebration Month. He worked closely with Kamalayan Kollective on issues ranging from gender and sexuality, human trafficking, indigenous issues, and veterans’ issues.
He now works as the Office Manager for the
Cross-Cultural Center.
